Vermont Catamounts outshoot and outcorner New Hampshire Wildcats in 2-1 victory

The sixth-seeded Vermont Catamounts outshot and outcornered the third-seeded New Hampshire Wildcats in a 2-1 victory in the quarterfinals of the America East women's soccer tournament on Monday night in Durham, New Hampshire.

Vermont outshot UNH 20-18 and doubled the Wildcats 8-4 in corner kicks.

The Catamounts got on the board in the 55th minute when Jill Brody fired a low hard shot from 30 yards out into the lower left corner of the net. Vermont doubled its lead in the 75th minute when Lauren DeGroot scored on a cross from Tessa Weiss.

New Hampshire got a goal back in the 89th minute on a corner kick from Meghan Guarente to Megan Logue, but it wasn't enough to overcome the two-goal deficit.

Vermont goalkeeper Erin Murphy made six saves to earn the win.

With the victory, the Catamounts advance to the America East semifinals on Thursday, November 2 against No. 2 Maine.
